So I FINALLY decided what the contest is going to be. Since RamJak is hardly able to work on DoR with me and Thista is kicked into high gear, I figured a way I could get information out about some of the places in Thista as well as have an awesome character creation contest. IT IS A LOT OF READING @3@ A DAAAAMN LOT OF READING. I do appologize, please tell me if it's too much and I'll try to fix it. KEEP IN MIND THAT A GOOD LOT OF THIS IS EXTRANEOUS INFORMATION NEEDED MOSTLY FOR THIS CONTEST. it's a bunch of "details" and won't muck up the actual storyline, like a kinda handbook/essential guide thing. PROTIP: Choose the group that looks interesting to and only read about it.


Here's the premise of the contest:

In Thista, there are several areas where Survivors raise generation after generation of orphans... These kids aren't your usual ragamuffins, noh siree. They are usually kids who's parents were killed by Zevplague and its related crimes, but being born in Thista they have special skills with the supernatural, music and city life in general.

Red Street, Black Boulevard, Green Street, Libra Ct., Mauve Street, Sky Street and The Backalley...

Each of the streets is characterized by a special ability and a distiguishing "look".

So here's the mission: make your own Street Kid. Whether drawing them or writing a story/description (bonus points if you record a little "podcast" as your character to give an idea of their personality and musical tastes)... pretty much anything goes.

It's a collection I made of mostly people that look like they would be in Thista, or characters/people who remind me of characters we already have in Thista.

THINGS I WILL BE LOOKING FOR:

~The characters HAVE to be unique. And I'm not talking unique like ZOMG HAS THE POWERS OF ALL THE STREETS, CAN TALK TO ANIMALS AND IS INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL WITH A HAUNTINTG SINGING VOICE. You know what I'm talking about. They can be influenced by something, that's fine, but saying OHAY THIS ONE I MADE IT JUST LIKE ME, MY PERSONALITY AND EVERYTHING. Just. noh =3= CREATE something, no copypasta-ing of character traits. And please for the love of the universe NO. TRENDY. ANGST. <: next window please.

~Characters with as many or more quirks, habits and flaws as they have strongpoints are LOVED greatly.

~Kid is a loose term. Anywhere from 10-25, younger if you have the mind for it.

~The better a character is "researched" or put together, the more likely a character is to win. What I mean is, their musical taste, why, what instument they play/would play if they play one at all, what their totem is(once again, see first thing... if you use a trendy/mainstream animal totem without a GOOD explanation, that'll not look so good), why they choose their particular clothes, why they have the skills they have. I'd also like if they have strange eyes, multicolored hair, strange abilities besides the usual Streetkid ones... you've gotta to explain them logically. I mean, it could be totally fictional, but it won't metter as long as you make it BELIEVABLE.

~How well can you convey a Streetkid's musical taste...? I'd have to say, if you can make subtle references to lyrics, instruments, etc in the caharcter's backstory and other things, oh I will respect that so much ;3;

~I think, girl characters, they are tougher to make WELL, so any well-developed girlie has bonuspoints in my eyes.

so, without further ado,

THE STREETS AND THEIR APPEARANCES:

Red Street(Lead by Chaz)
Known by unique hairstyles/piercings, vibrant personalities and by the "Red Street" tattoo. They can "taste" or "see" musical "flavors" and have sexual empathy and related abilities (like being able to taste someone's trustworthiness with a kiss, knowing by tone of voice whether or not people care for eachother and having a heightened sense of smell to detect emotional pheremones) that allow them to mentally, spiritually and physically heal people who have been infected with Zevplague. They also fight minor zevvies (thugs under minor plague influence and regular plain-old criminals) to keep the streets relatively safe. Taking ll this into account, they are more easily injured and have more health problems than other Streetkids. A Red Street Kid always has a partner, to balance out their personality, ability and dysfunction.

Green Street(lead by Leon)
known by respectful, professional and straightforeward demeanors and modified work uniforms (ie police, firefighter, doctor, construction worker... with their own twist of style. They work well with other Streetkids, though, while they can handle themselves alone, they are rather vulnerable without a group to work with. Green Street operates largely in groups... Green Crews of three to six kids. Special abilities include training in hand-to-hand combat, the ability to "communicate" with electronic devices (which can be rather limited) and the ability to "distract" people, make them forget little details. This allows them to slip into the background unnoticed and cover up Zevplague incidents (torture sites, zombie outbreaks, mass histeria and the like) much more efficiently. because they deal with the darker side of Thista, they are not allowed to go on actual missions until they have completed rigorous training at 18.

Black Boulevard(lead by Sheela Weblock)
There are fewer of these kids than kids on any other Street.
Known by incredibly ornate(almost ceremonially so) black "gothic" outfits(I only say gothic because I can find no other term), often trimmed with another color of their choosing and decked out with equally ornate jewelry. They have great psychic prowess and a nearly encyclopedic knowledge of all that is "wierd" and "occult" in Thista. Active only at night, respected by other Streetkids as authorities on what's going on in the city... However, like Green Street they deal with Darker things in Thista and so tend to be morbid, socially retarted/akward, quiet and generally strange. They are attracted to special items and can find out whether or not an item is posessed by energies, spirits, etc.

The Backalley( Lead by Augustus...?)
Younger Streetkids who follow Augustus around. He didn't raise them, they raise themselves with him as a rolemodel. They are recognizable by wearing either holloween costumes year-round or wearing oversized castoffs from other Streetkids. Their only known abilities are that they seem to be everywhere in the city and get from point to point in a swift but mysterious manner, as if they were in several places at one. In addition to that, their presance brings good luck and stray animals follow THEM around even as they follow Augustus.

Libra Ct. (Lead by Ynigma)
Most of the kids on this Street are older, considering they live and work in a small bar/theatre(The Sunset Grill) run by Ynigma, right next door to the library owned by Charles Yeng. They are known by red or blue streaks in their hair, their bar/waiter uniforms and a special pin, a celtic knot. They don't go on missions around the city like other Streetkids, they stay in the Sunset Grill... What they guard is a haunted site... a gate to the Underground City and it's bloody sub-dimension, as well as several hotel rooms full of creatures excersized and sealed by the Black Brigade. They are the ones to go for for minor potions, spells, prayers and charms and special music boxes... They are usually fairly wise, but they have a terrible tendancy to hold grudges and to overreact (ie yelling and flailing) to a lot of things. It should be noted that Libra Ct. is also the headquarters of the Justices(justi-sees), a group of Streetkids-turned-vigilante(from any Street)... "urban knights", also trained by Ynigma. They punish many major criminals in the city.

Sky Street(lead by Julus Marks)
Sky Street is a metal walkway from building to building downtown, suspended over the city. It's Thista's architectural claim to fame, and in the Skyloft Apartments lives a group of hyperactive, trigger-happy(though, mostly paintball pistols unless there's a dire situation) freerunners, streetkids trained by Leon Bennet's ex-National Guard friend Julus Marks to be fast, fierce, and to have peerless skills in memorizing places, people and information. Some of them drive taxis, some of them perfer to run, but when a message needs to get from one Street to another, a Sky Street Kid is the kid to call. Their outfits tend to be on the punk side of the spectrum, with a bit of "rave" clothes and urban taste thrown in. Not only are they courriers, they are also taught to tag, painting huge grafitti murals that somehow keep downtown Zevplague free. They are infamous for being smart-asses, have great physical endurance(they even heal faster, almost to the extent of a Survivor) and have little to no psychic ability.

Mauve Street(Lead by William H. Bonnie)
This Suburbian group of Streetkids come in two types... the first are called for jobs such as teachers, "big-brother-big-sister"s, therapists and doctors, keeping schools and the norm safe from Zevplague and in constant reach of proper help. They are the least distinguishable and most diverse group of Streetkids, dispensing aid to those psychologically harmed by the devilish disease and its collateral damage. Only recognizable by a speacial pendant or bracelet with the Mauve Street emblem. The other type are known as "Trashcan Kings", patrolling brokendown buildings and junkyards, leaving CDs on people's doorsteps, causing mischief and generally being clowns. they are easily recognized by the epaulettes on their jackets and by the musical instruments they carry around everywhere.

THESE NOT EXACTLY STREETS but they ARE groups that you can create a character for just the same.

Transfers
A kid who moves from one Street to another to offer their skills. They wear a mix of clothes and marks from both Streets.

Brotherhood of Scholars(lead by Copernicus)
A group of rather eccentric (and rather nerdy) people, all working under pseudonyms of great scientists, artists, philosophers and writers of the past. They study "positive" spirits that parallel Zevion's hauntings, and they might be the ones who created the Urban Legends; special, unbreakable instruments that can be used as weapons against the undead and incorporeal. They look like any other librarian, teacher, etc, though some of them carry strange, unique items and have strange eyes.

Warehouse District: Arsonistas(Lead by Razor)
Arsonista concept belongs to ~Liemryn ... Arsonistas are a group of pyromaniac/pyrophiliac anarchist punks, skaters... inventors. They cause much damage in the city, starting riots and fires, though they are a constant irking force to Zevion, being for the most part immune to his plague. They create odd devices, usually for making trouble and fire, they also build and race bikes on the Entry Highway. They live for the moment, constantly beat eachother black and blue but look out for eachother like a family. They all have very odd personalities, and they are distinguished as a gang by their masks... each Arsonista has a mask unique to them that has some method of spewing/creating fire or sparks. They hate anyone from Green Street with a passion, proclaiming them rivals.

BASEment Crew
Thista's Elite, including Survivors, Cityborn and grown up Streetkids. All of them are either in or involved with a band, a good many of them have BIZARRE hairdos and piercings and tattoos. Especially notable are the amount of psychics, martial artists and other people with exceptional skill. The must stand out in a crowd and be automatically recognized, and often secretly carry burdens and scars... Zevion hates this group above all others and does his best to hurt, spite and break them on an extremely personal level. But because of this they are strong individuals with a fierce vendetta against the Underground City and Zevion. (it'd be superhard to make one of these properly. This is like... the EXTRA HARD difficulty setting)
